Hayagrīva is a wrathful manifestation of Avalokiteśvara and one of the most important protectors in Vajrayāna Buddhism. He is especially revered for subduing illness, negative forces, fear, nightmares, and obstructive energies.

He represents:

• Rapid removal of illnesses and external disturbances

• Subduing fear, anxiety, nightmares, and inner turmoil

• Eliminating obstacles, harmful influences, and obstructive conditions

This piece follows the Zidong regional lineage, featuring a forward-projected horse head, dynamic posture, and strong expressive power—distinctive traits of this local Hayagrīva tradition.

【Artist Overview】

Lobsang is a renowned contemporary miniature thangka artist in Tibet, celebrated for his unique deep-green color blending technique, which earned him the title "Color Master."

He excels in wrathful subjects—especially the Five and Eight Heruka deities and Hayagrīva—characterized by powerful brushwork and dense chromatic layers.

As Lobsang devotes only around two months per year exclusively to painting, his works are extremely scarce and highly valued by collectors.

His representative pieces have been exhibited at the Tibet Art Museum, attracting significant academic and collector attention. Zizaitang holds several exhibition-grade works by Lobsang, and this piece stands as a strong example of his signature style.
